Submission Requirements And Chain Of Custody
- When submitting rough diamonds to the laboratory, clients must submit a copy of their rough license and KPC certificate (if the diamonds are from outside South Africa).
- Clients must also include the invoice from the tender house/ mine, containing all relevant information about the stone/parcel.
- Rough diamonds must be sealed and come directly from the tender house/mine.
- The laboratory staff will open sealed parcels in the presence of the client if client wishes to be present.
Initial Analysis and Identification
- Each rough diamond will receive an identification number upon completion of the analysis.
- The rough diamonds will then be returned to the client for polishing.
Submission of Polished Diamonds
- Once polishing is completed, the diamonds can be resubmitted to the laboratory with their rough identification numbers. They will then be analysed against the previously submitted rough diamonds to verify their ‘same’ identity.
Report Issuance
- Once the above is completed, verified diamonds will receive the Out of Africa Natural Diamond of Origin Report. Important to note that diamonds which cannot be confirmed as matching the original rough diamonds, will be issued an EGL Maxi diamond report.
