Angela Yeung’s Everest Climb Empowers Survivors and Uplifts Himalayan Children
Angela Yeung’s Everest climb was part of a mission to empower GBV survivors through the Impilo Collection Foundation’s EmpowerHer Programme. Her goal: collect 8,849 bras – one per metre of Everest – to restore dignity and raise awareness. “Each bra we collect is a message: You are seen, valued, and deserving of dignity,” said Yeung.
In a country where a woman is murdered every four hours, Angela’s campaign has mobilised national support, with bras headed to shelters across South Africa. Her climb, backed by brands like Cathay Pacific and GoPro, became a symbol of resilience. “This is not just my climb; it’s every South African’s climb.”
From Summit to Service
After her descent, Angela and her Sherpa team delivered 100kg of donations to Himalayan schools. “Giving back to children is the real summit,” she said. Her foundation supports spiritual and academic growth in underserved regions.
This expedition reflects the Foundation’s mission to uplift 1 million lives by 2035 through EmpowerHer, EmpowerHim, and EmpowerThem.
