Diamond Dealers Club of South Africa Donates Vital Supplies to Disability Centres in Johannesburg
The Diamond Dealers Club of South Africa (DDCSA) recently donated non-perishable food and toiletries valued at R19,550 to two Johannesburg-based disability care organisations: Sithandiwe Disabled Care Centre and Woodside Sanctuary. This contribution will help ease daily operational costs and support some of South Africa’s most vulnerable communities.
“We chose these organisations because persons with disabilities living in poverty are among the most vulnerable in society. Many are unable to change their circumstances and remain dependent on others.”

Founded in 2006 by Thandi Ndlovu, who is disabled herself, Sithandiwe began as a small home-based project and now cares for 36 children, including 19 residential users. Most children have profound disabilities and require full assistance.
From Zandile Ndlovu, Centre Manager:
“My mother started the centre because of her own experience growing up disabled and being mistreated. She wanted to teach people that being disabled doesn’t mean you’re useless. We really appreciate the nappies you donated, as many children need full-time care. It’s been difficult to get donations because of the economy, so this support means a lot to us.”
Established in 1955 by parents seeking a home-like care environment for their disabled children, Woodside currently houses 84 residents, 22 of whom are not funded. The sanctuary offers lifelong care, therapy, and nursing support.
From Lone, Fundraising Manager:
“Thank you so much for this donation—it helps reduce our monthly costs for essentials like food and toiletries. Woodside was started to provide a home, not an institution, and your support helps us give residents dignified, fulfilling lives.”
