What Makes a Good Event Partnership?
Walk any show floor and you’ll see plenty of brands showing up with a strong, visible presence – good spot, good branding, everything where it should be. Important, yes – but not always what people remember. From what we’re seeing, the partnerships that land best now give people a reason to stop, stay, and come back. Less about being seen, more about being part of the experience. Across sectors and audiences, the pattern is becoming pretty consistent.

What Happened When YouTube Came to MIPCOM
Introducing something new into a well-established show isn’t always straightforward.
In 2025, as YouTube marked its 20th anniversary, CEO Neil Mohan set out four strategic “big bets,” including the belief that YouTube is the new television and that creators are the start-ups of Hollywood.
Around the same time, MIPCOM approached Pedro Pina, YouTube’s Head of Television EMEA, with a clear invitation: come to Cannes and bring that vision to life alongside the world’s biggest studios.
Up to that point, YouTube’s presence in Cannes had largely been centred around Cannes Lions. MIPCOM was a different crowd – more traditional, more established, and understandably a bit sceptical. And you don’t shift that with a standard stand.
So instead of just showing up, YouTube created a space people wanted to spend time in.
YouTube View – a rooftop lounge on top of the Palais des Festivals – turned an unused space into one of the most talked-about activations at MIPCOM.
Alongside that came keynote sponsorships across MIPCOM and MIPJunior, producer helpdesks, packed workshops and market-wide branding.
And it worked:
-
Over 3,000 delegates (nearly 30% of total attendance) visited YouTube View.
-
The largest keynote in MIPCOM history, with more than 860 attendees.
-
Over 1,400 guests across anniversary events.
-
Workshops averaged 250+ participants, running at standing-room-only capacity.
More importantly, people didn’t just pass through – they stayed, engaged, asked questions. The creator economy wasn’t just a talking point; it became part of the conversation.
The impact carried through, with YouTube confirming increased investment and engagement for MIPCOM 2026.
“This is just the beginning of a beautiful partnership. I left Cannes on a high, full of excitement for all the discussions we had and the ideas buzzing around my head about partnering even more with all the wonderful teams we’ve met.” – Pedro Pina.
ITALIAN FOOD AT SNACK SHOW, DONE PROPERLY
Some partnerships don’t need to be big and bold – they just need to make sense. I Love Italian Food (ILIF) and Snack Show 2025 is one of those.
ILIF’s mission is promoting Italian food and beverage excellence globally. Snack Show already had the audience. The opportunity was obvious – but, as with any new addition to an established show, it only works if it feels like it belongs. So this wasn’t treated as an add-on.
Instead, it was built into the heart of the show: a dedicated ILIF-branded zone, plus a one-day programme featuring 37 Italian producers, chefs, live demonstrations, tastings and curated content. The kind of space people don’t just walk past – they stop, taste, talk, and stay a little longer.
The result:
-
Over 1,000 visitors engaged with the ILIF area.
-
That’s half of the day’s total attendance.
Which tells you it wasn’t just “nice to have” – it was part of the draw.
“The RX team truly understood our vision. The partnership delivered visibility, credibility, and concrete business results for our Italian food producers.” – Alessandro Schiatti, Founder and CEO of I Love Italian Food.
They’ve since committed to a long-term partnership with Snack Show.
WHEN THE STORY OUTGROWS THE STAND
There’s only so much you can do within the footprint of a stand – especially when you’re bringing multiple brands together. At some point, the story outgrows the space.
That’s what Accor was up against at ILTM Cannes.
Rather than squeezing everything into the space available, they took a different route – literally.
The Accor Grand Pavilion, a 1,500 m² beachfront space just steps from the Palais, gave them room to create something more considered. Not just a place for meetings, but an environment that reflected the brands they were representing.
By 2025, it had become their strongest ILTM activation to date.
Across three show days:
-
9,124 visitors.
-
4,800 pre-scheduled meetings.
-
206 hoteliers from 125 properties (a 56% increase versus previous participation models).
And then there’s everything that happens around the edges – the conversations, the hosted moments, the parts that don’t always show up in a floorplan. In this case, ten curated client events welcomed more than 1,000 guests across the week.
“Our objective was clear: to showcase the best of Accor. The quality of the meetings, the ambition of the teams and the engagement from partners throughout the week showed just how powerfully our goal was delivered.” – Pascal Visintainer, Chief Sales Officer.
The partnership has since translated into longer-term value, with expanded collaboration confirmed for ILTM Cannes 2026.
OPENING THE DOOR, WITHOUT LOWERING THE BAR
One of the ongoing balancing acts in events is keeping things fresh without losing what makes the audience valuable in the first place.
Luxury – the US B2B jewellery event – has been working on that through its Design at Luxury concept, giving high-end designers access to a highly qualified buying audience.
Because let’s face it – great talent doesn’t always come with big exhibition budgets.
That’s where NouvelleBox comes in.
“NouvelleBox was seeking a jewellery trade show partnership in the US market that delivered real return on investment, where orders are written and business is done. Luxury offers exactly that: an engaged retail audience, a commercial mindset and a proven buying environment.” – Event Director, Meghan Markewicz.
Together, they’ve developed the NouvelleBox Ballroom at Luxury 2026 – a dedicated designer space just off the main show floor. The model makes it viable for designers to participate, while still creating enough draw to bring retailers in.
So far:
-
Seven new designers have already joined.
-
Demand is nearing full capacity.
“NouvelleBox is dedicated to championing brands that embody artistry, innovation, and individuality, and we are proud to showcase their work in a setting that defines excellence at the highest level of the industry.” – Darren Hildrow, Founder & Director.
Retailers gain access to sought-after design talent. Designers gain visibility with the right buyers. And the overall experience stays curated.
WHAT THIS ALL COMES DOWN TO
Across very different industries, the same shift keeps showing up.
“Across these examples, a consistent strategic pattern emerges. The most effective event partnerships are no longer transactional, they are strategic, integrated, and outcome driven. The value lies not in presence, but in active participation.” – Peter Lindsay, Chief Strategy Officer at RX.
In practice, that’s what separates the partnerships people pass by from the ones they spend time in.
Because being seen is one thing. Being remembered is another.
And it doesn’t take long to spot the difference.
